HACKENSACK, NJ — Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of a 38-year-old man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash.
Terrence J. Hedden, of Bergenfield, was arrested following an investigation into the May 8, 2026, incident at the intersection of Essex Street and Summit Avenue.
Hackensack Police officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:49 a.m. and located a 74-year-old male pedestrian suffering from serious injuries.
The victim was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Following a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Hackensack Police Department, investigators identified the vehicle involved as a 2021 Honda Pilot operated by Hedden.
He was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
