Man arrested as fugitive in Lincoln

LINCOLN, RI — A Providence man wanted on a Massachusetts warrant was arrested at a hospital Tuesday morning.

Jose Alonzo, 56, of Providence, was taken into custody at Rhode Island Hospital at 10 a.m. as a fugitive from justice.

Alonzo was wanted by Massachusetts State Police on an affidavit and arrest warrant for assault with a deadly weapon originating from the Middleboro Barracks.

He was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed and taken to Sixth Division District Court for arraignment.

In separate incidents, state police made four additional arrests:

At 4:44 p.m., troopers arrested Yefferson Lopez Martinez, 28, of Pawtucket, on a Sixth Division District Court bench warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of operation under foreign license.

The arrest occurred after troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 95 in Providence.

Lopez Martinez was processed at Lincoln Woods Barracks and transported to the Adult Correctional Institution.

At 6:49 p.m., troopers arrested Marena Cruz, 35, of Providence, following a road rage incident on Route 95 in Providence.

Cruz was charged with throwing article at moving vehicle (two counts), simple assault and/or battery (two counts), disorderly conduct and driving with a suspended license.

She was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a notice to appear at Sixth Division District Court.

At 2:27 a.m., troopers arrested Boris Cruz, 46, of Providence, following a motor vehicle stop on Manton Avenue in Providence.

Cruz was charged with driving under the influence of liquor and refusal to submit to a chemical test, second offense.

He was held overnight pending morning arraignment at Sixth Division District Court.

At 2:33 a.m., troopers arrested Diamontae Cole, 26, of Providence, on two Providence Superior Court bench warrants for failure to appear for restitution review on shoplifting charges.

The arrest followed a motor vehicle accident on Route 195 in Providence.

Cole was processed and transported to the Adult Correctional Institution.
