OWASCO, NY — A 27-year-old man has been arrested on a felony drug charge after authorities say he ordered cocaine online and had it mailed to his home.
Joseph J. Herbert, of Owasco, was arrested May 6 and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation in February into allegations that Herbert had ordered a narcotic drug online and had it delivered to his residence.
Authorities obtained the drug and sent it to the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Center for testing.
The substance tested positive in May for 13.648 grams of cocaine, according to the sheriff’s office.
Herbert was arraigned at CAP court and released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in Owasco Town Court at a later date.
