On May 1 at approximately 7:28 p.m., officers responded to the Mobil Gas Station for a report of an attempted armed robbery involving a knife.

Over the past week, detectives assigned to the Plainville Police Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation conducted area canvases, interviews, and reviewed surveillance footage from the business and the surrounding area.

Through those investigative efforts, detectives gathered additional information that led to the identification of the suspect vehicle involved in the incident.

The vehicle was subsequently stopped by the North Attleboro Police Department, and Ryan Cote, 22, of Plainville, was taken into custody on motor vehicle-related violations.

Following the stop, members of the Plainville Bureau of Criminal Investigation executed a court-authorized search warrant.

During the search, detectives recovered several items believed to be connected to the attempted robbery investigation, including the weapon believed to have been used during the incident.

Cote was arraigned in Attleboro District Court on a motor vehicle charge and is expected to appear in Wrentham District Court on charges related to the attempted armed robbery.
