Man arrested after firearm recovered in Greece

GREECE, NY — A Greece resident was taken into custody early Sunday morning following an investigation and subsequent traffic stop that led to the recovery of a loaded firearm and illegal narcotics.

At approximately 3 a.m., officers responded to a location on Brush Hollow Road for a reported incident.

Prior to the officers’ arrival, the suspect had left the area in a vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, officers observed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Long Pond Road.

The suspect, Daniel W. Raforth Jr., 34, of Greece, was taken into custody without incident.

Officers recovered a loaded Taurus .40 caliber handgun within the vehicle.

Raforth does not possess a valid pistol permit.

Officers also located small quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, along with an airsoft rifle and multiple electronic devices.

Raforth was charged with aggravated harassment in the second degree, stalking in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second, third and fourth degrees, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Raforth was transported to police headquarters for processing and later remanded to the county jail pending arraignment in CAP Court.
