SYRACUSE, NY — New York State Police arrested a Syracuse man Friday following a four-month narcotics investigation.
Mack A. Givens, 49, of Syracuse, was taken into custody May 1 after investigators executed search warrants at a Midland Avenue residence and on Givens himself.
Police seized approximately 3.26 pounds of fentanyl, 72.8 grams of methamphetamine, two 9mm handguns, three high-capacity magazines, assorted ammunition, narcotics packaging materials and a digital scale with cocaine residue.
One of the handguns, a Taurus PT111 9mm, had been reported stolen from Georgia.
Givens was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, a class A-I felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony.
He also faces two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
Givens was arraigned and remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail.
The investigation was conducted by New York State Police in conjunction with the Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team.
The Syracuse Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration assisted in the investigation.
