Two men charged after drug raid in Sardinia

SARDINIA, NY — Two men face multiple drug and weapons charges following a search warrant execution at a residence on Van Slyke Road.

Roy Smith, 64, and Elijah Smith, 25, both of Sardinia, were arrested Thursday after the Erie County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team executed the search warrant signed by Hon. Kenneth Case of Erie County Court.

Both men were located inside the residence and taken into custody.

Deputies recovered suspected methamphetamine, suspected diazepam, suspected buprenorphine naloxone films, suspected hydrocodone pills and drug paraphernalia.

Multiple firearms that were illegally possessed by the suspects were also seized.

Roy Smith was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Elijah Smith was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Both suspects were transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.

The arrests followed an investigation by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit.
