COLCHESTER, NY — A traffic stop on State Route 17 led to the arrest of a man on felony drug charges April 17, 2026.
State Police troopers from the Liberty barracks observed a 2026 Toyota traveling westbound on State Route 17 in Rockland at approximately 10:06 a.m. in violation of multiple vehicle and traffic laws.
Troopers stopped the vehicle in Colchester and identified the driver and sole occupant as Jeffrey J. Marshall, 41, of New York City.
A search of the vehicle uncovered four compressed blocks wrapped in plastic layers and tape containing approximately 4,913 grams of cocaine, police said.
Marshall was arrested and transported to State Police Liberty for processing.
He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, a class A-I felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.
Marshall also received multiple traffic tickets.
He was arraigned in Rockland Town Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail.
Marshall is scheduled to appear in Rockland Town Court on April 21, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.
