CATSKILL, NY — A Pennsylvania man faces felony weapon charges and a DWI charge following a single-vehicle crash on Route 9W.
Ethen M. White, 26, of Sayre, Pennsylvania, was traveling northbound on State Route 9W at approximately 4:34 p.m. April 17, 2026, when he attempted to pass in a no passing zone, according to State Police.
White lost control of his 2022 Hyundai and the vehicle overturned, police said.
White was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
During the investigation, police determined White was intoxicated and in possession of a Taurus Brazil G3C handgun.
White was transported to Albany Medical Center with minor injuries.
He refused a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol content, police said.
White was released from the hospital and arrested without incident.
He was transported to State Police Catskill for processing.
White was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, loaded firearm, a class C felony, and driving while intoxicated, first offense, an unclassified misdemeanor.
He also received multiple uniform traffic tickets.
White was arraigned at Catskill Town Court and remanded to Greene County Jail with no bail.
He is scheduled to appear in Catskill Town Court on April 23, 2026, at 3 p.m.
