TRENTON, NJ — A Trenton police officer has been suspended without pay following an excessive force investigation.
The Trenton Police Department Internal Affairs Bureau was notified on Dec. 3, 2024, of an incident involving the alleged use of excessive force by Officer Aaron Bernstein.
The investigation was forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office on Dec. 4, 2024.
Officer Bernstein was immediately suspended without pay pending further investigation by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office due to the criminal nature of the incident.
The suspension follows new police reforms instituted by the Trenton Police Department in February 2024.
Administrative penalties may include suspension or termination.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office is handling the investigation.
