SHELTON, CT — Police arrested a New York man after seizing more than 36 pounds of illegal cannabis products from a smoke shop on Bridgeport Avenue.
Naji Alabdi, 36, of Bronx, New York, was taken into custody April 20 on an active warrant.
The Shelton Police Crime Prevention Unit, working with several state agencies, conducted a compliance inspection April 21 at Breeze 2 Smoke Shop at 874 Bridgeport Avenue.
Authorities seized 1,479 illegal cannabis-related products during the inspection.
The seized items included 229 THC edibles weighing 21.2 pounds, 479 THC vape concentrates weighing 10.0 pounds, and 771 cannabis flower products weighing 5.37 pounds.
Investigators determined the business was not licensed to sell cannabis products and was operating in violation of state regulations.
The Connecticut Department of Labor issued a Stop-Work Order, resulting in the immediate closure of the business.
Alabdi was charged with sale of one kilogram or more of cannabis.
He posted $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court in May at GA-5.
