Attic fire extinguished on Union Street in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, NY — Firefighters extinguished an attic fire on Union Street on April 16.

Village police units arrived first and confirmed an active fire.

Police were able to contain the fire to the attic using a water can.

Montgomery Engine 219 arrived shortly after and stretched one handline to the third floor to complete extinguishment of the fire.

Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from Coldenham, Walden, Maybrook, Pine Bush, Bullville, Campbell Hall, Washingtonville, Silver Lake and Mechanicstown.

Additional coverage was provided by standby companies from Vails Gate, Goshen and Wallkill.

EMS services were provided by the Town of Montgomery Ambulance Corps.

Three individuals were evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation and did not require further treatment.
