Man arrested on child sex abuse charges in Penn Yan

PENN YAN, NY — A 45-year-old man faces multiple charges after police say he sexually abused a child over several months.

Brian K. Corcoran, of Penn Yan, was arrested following a complaint that he had abused a child.

Police allege that on several dates from September to December, Corcoran inappropriately touched the child in a sexual manner, sent the child nude photographs and requested nude photographs from the child.

Penn Yan Police executed a search warrant on Corcoran’s residence and seized numerous cellular phones.

Corcoran was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony; possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony; forcible touching; and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was transported to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment in Yates County CAP court.

Additional charges are pending based on the results of additional search warrants on the seized electronic devices.

The Penn Yan Police Department was assisted by New York State Police Bath, Steuben County Child Protective and Yates County Child Protective Services.
