HALFMOON, NY — State Police arrested a man on multiple weapons charges following a traffic stop on State Route 9.
James P. Warner, 44, of Albany, was taken into custody at about 7:42 p.m. on March 27, 2026.
Troopers initially responded to the Pine Ridge II area for reports of a verbal argument.
The investigation determined that Warner, who was reported as a witness, had a verbal argument with an individual known to him.
Warner left the location in a vehicle before law enforcement arrived.
He was stopped on State Route 9 for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
During the investigation, troopers discovered Warner was illegally in possession of a loaded handgun with an illegal high-capacity magazine.
A court-issued order of protection was in place against Warner at the time, which prohibited him from possessing any firearms.
Warner was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony; criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony; criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor; unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices, a class B misdemeanor; and a vehicle and traffic law violation.
He was transported to State Police barracks in Clifton Park for processing.
Warner was arraigned at Halfmoon Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash, $40,000 bond, or a $200,000 partially secured bond.
