HALFMOON, NY — A 54-year-old man faces drunken driving and child endangerment charges following a rear-end collision at the intersection of state Route 146 and Werner Road.
William A. Vroman, of Halfmoon, was arrested after the crash that occurred at 7:56 p.m. on April 4.
Vroman is accused of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
He had allegedly been operating a 2017 Dodge pickup truck at an unsafe speed when he rear-ended a 2018 Toyota pickup truck that had been stopped in traffic at the intersection.
Vroman was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Hospital for evaluation and treatment of apparently non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no other occupants in his vehicle.
The operator of the Toyota complained of pain to their neck and the front seat passenger complained of general pain to their entire body.
Neither were transported.
A child passenger who was in the rear of the Toyota was not injured.
Vroman was charged with DWI, an unclassified misdemeanor, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
He was also cited for speed not reasonable and prudent and refusing to take a prescreen breath test at the request of a police officer.
He was released on appearance tickets pending proceedings in Halfmoon Town Court.
