IRONDEQUOIT, NY — Police are investigating a shooting that left a 50-year-old man with life-threatening injuries on April 9.
The Irondequoit Police Department received a call at approximately 8:44 p.m. for 12 people fighting in the street at St. Paul Boulevard and 2nd Street.
While officers were responding, another call came in reporting shots fired from the group.
When officers arrived at the scene, the street was empty and everyone had left.
While driving to the scene, an officer was flagged down by a motorist near the intersection of St. Paul Boulevard and Barons Street.
Inside the vehicle was the 50-year-old shooting victim from the original location.
The victim had been shot at least once in the upper arm area.
The officer applied a tourniquet to the arm while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
Irondequoit Ambulance transported the victim to Strong Hospital for emergency treatment.
The victim was still in surgery with what appears to be a life-threatening injury.
Police secured a house at 5352 St. Paul Boulevard as it appears to be related to the incident.
Officers are interviewing several people in an attempt to identify a suspect.
