SARATOGA COUNTY, NY — A Salem woman was arrested Friday on charges she submitted forged documents to county social services.
Ebony A. Charleston, 27, of Salem, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, class D felonies, and two counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, class E felonies.
Charleston is accused of submitting forged lease agreements to the Saratoga County Department of Social Services’ Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program on July 10 and again on Nov. 21 that falsely listed her true residence.
She is also accused of submitting two online recertification applications for SNAP to the department on June 9 and again on Nov. 14 that contained false information regarding her true residence.
Charleston was arraigned before the Honorable Timothy M. Brown in Milton Town Court and released on her own recognizance pending further proceedings in Ballston Spa Village Court.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the Sheriff’s Office and the Special Investigations unit of the Saratoga County Department of Social Services.
