Two men charged with credit card fraud in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A 23-year-old Avenel man and a 37-year-old Elizabeth man were charged with third-degree credit card fraud on March 18.

The charges were the culmination of a Detective Bureau follow-up investigation of fraudulent use of a credit card at a Route 22 restaurant, according to the Springfield Police Department.

On March 19, a 34-year-old Dunellen man was charged with eluding police with a motor vehicle as a result of a follow-up investigation of an attempted motor vehicle stop on Route 22.

On March 25, a 29-year-old Newark woman and a 39-year-old Newark man were charged with theft following a shoplifting incident reported at a Route 22 liquor store on March 15.

Also on March 25, a 43-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y. man was charged with theft of movable property as a result of a follow-up investigation by Detective Bureau personnel into a theft reported at a Route 22 office supply store on March 19.

A 50-year-old Newark man was charged with theft on March 26 as a result of a follow-up investigation of shoplifting reported at a Morris Turnpike convenience store.

On March 30, officers were detailed to a Route 22 hotel on a report of a verbal dispute, and a 40-year-old Plainfield man was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

Also on March 30, a 34-year-old Orange man was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of West Orange as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Mountain Avenue.

A 24-year-old Newark man was arrested on March 30 on an outstanding warrant out of East Brunswick as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue.

On March 31, a 35-year-old Orange man was charged with theft of movable property and possession of an anti-shoplifting counter device following a shoplifting incident reported at a Route 22 office supply store on March 25.
