Traffic crash leads to drug seizure in Somersworth

SOMERSWORTH, NH — A traffic crash investigation led to the seizure of fentanyl and crack cocaine with an estimated street value between $6,000 and $7,000, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Winter Street and Rocky Hill Road at approximately 8:20 p.m. on March 27 for a report of a vehicle that had struck a utility pole and left the scene.

Upon arrival, officers were given a description of the vehicle and searched the area.

Officers located a vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop.

The operator was identified as Kyle Leavy, 38, of Farmington.

Leavy was taken into custody and charged with driving after suspension as a result of a DUI and alcohol interlock motor vehicle not equipped with interlock device.

During an inventory search of the vehicle before being impounded, officers located evidence of drugs and money.

Leavy was released on personal recognizance bail with a court date of May 5 at Dover District Court.

The vehicle was seized pending a search warrant.

A search warrant was granted out of Strafford County Superior Court in the following days.

The search warrant was executed on March 31.

Additional charges are forthcoming.
