BENSALEM, PA — A Philadelphia man was killed early Tuesday morning after his disabled vehicle was struck by two other cars on Route 1.
Julio Ricardo Munoz, 45, of Philadelphia, died after being hit by his own vehicle during the crash.
Police and emergency personnel responded to southbound Route 1 at Rockhill Drive at approximately 5:30 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a three-vehicle crash.
Munoz had been driving a 2007 Honda Fit that was experiencing mechanical difficulties and stopped in the number two southbound lane of Route 1.
Munoz exited the vehicle while it was stopped on the highway.
A 2022 Kia Seltos struck the Honda, causing it to hit Munoz, who was standing outside his vehicle.
A 2017 Jeep Cherokee then struck the Honda.
Munoz sustained fatal injuries while outside his vehicle.
A front seat passenger in the Honda was transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
