JAMESTOWN, NY — A man was arrested on drunken driving charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash on March 28, 2026.
Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s First Platoon were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on East 4th Street at approximately 10:30 a.m., where a witness reported that the suspect vehicle fled the scene with heavy front-end damage.
The vehicle, operated by James D. Bliss, 45, of Jamestown, was located a short distance away with the airbag deployed.
During the investigation, it was determined that Bliss had been operating the vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he consented to a chemical breath test.
The test results indicated that his blood alcohol concentration was nearly four times the legal limit.
Bliss was charged with aggravated DWI, DWI and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
He was later released to a sober third party to appear in court at a later date.
