As Gonzales was being released, he began making threatening statements, police said.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office took custody of Gonzales and charged him with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony.

Gonzales was arraigned on that charge and is being held in Steuben County Jail with the opportunity to post bail.

On March 25, 2026, Gonzales had been arrested by New York State Police in Hornell for assault and criminal mischief at the Econo Lodge.
