Man arrested following laundromat assault in Carlstadt

CARLSTADT, NJ — A man turned himself in to police March 26 after allegedly assaulting another person and threatening them with a box cutter at a laundromat earlier in the week.

PO Smith and PO Linde responded to a reported disturbance at a laundromat on Hackensack Street on March 21, 2026.

Officers met with a victim who reported being physically assaulted following a dispute over mistakenly taken property.

Det. Monroe’s investigation revealed that the suspect initiated a physical altercation, striking the victim multiple times and escalating the incident by kicking and making threats.

The suspect returned to the location armed with a box cutter and issued additional threats before leaving the scene.

Det. Monroe identified the suspect through witness statements and surveillance footage.

The individual voluntarily turned himself in March 26 and was taken into custody.

He was charged with terroristic threats, certain persons not to possess a weapon, hindering apprehension, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

He was processed and transported to the Bergen County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
