PITTSBURGH, PA — An Ohio man is facing charges after a firearm was discovered at a security checkpoint at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Transportation Security Administration officers observed a handgun in a passenger’s carry-on bag at the main security checkpoint at 5:24 a.m. on March 27 and alerted Allegheny County Police.
County police identified the passenger as Franklin Landis, 47, of Poland, Ohio.
Police determined Landis did not possess a valid concealed carry permit.
Landis is facing one misdemeanor charge for carrying a firearm without a license.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was also notified.
Passengers who bring firearms into an airport security checkpoint can face federal civil fines from the Transportation Security Administration up to $10,000.
Repeat offenders can be fined up to $13,910.
