FORT EDWARD, NY — A 34-year-old man has been arrested on felony forgery charges after allegedly attempting to fraudulently sell property while incarcerated at the Washington County Jail.
Andrew M. Jabot, of Fort Edward, was charged with Forgery in the Second Degree, a class D felony, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor, according to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy.
An investigation by Investigator C. Sullivan revealed that Jabot, while being held at the Washington County Jail on unrelated charges, attempted to sell a residential trailer to another individual.
To carry out the transaction, Jabot completed paperwork with a notary to certify a Bill of Sale for the property despite having no legal ownership or rights to it, according to the investigation.
Jabot was arraigned through Centralized Arraignment and was held without bail.
He remains lodged at the Washington County Jail and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Fort Edward Court at a later date.
