BARTON, VT — A 21-year-old man was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of driving under the influence and violating conditions of release.
Matthew Santaw, of Barton, was stopped by Vermont State Police troopers on Interstate 91 North at mile marker 124 at 12:33 a.m. March 22 after they observed a traffic violation.
An investigation revealed Santaw had operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and was actively violating conditions of release, police said.
Santaw was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing.
He was lodged at a correctional facility for lack of $5,000 bail on pending charges from the Newport Police Department.
