The arrests stem from an incident on July 10, 2025, at about 8:14 p.m. when troopers responded to a report of an altercation during which an individual had been shot on Nassau Averill Park Road in Nassau.
The investigation determined Hoffman and Morrill were involved in a physical altercation following an apparent road rage incident.
During the altercation, Hoffman discharged a legally possessed firearm and struck Morrill twice in the chest.
Morrill was transported to Albany Medical Center where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
The two men reportedly did not know each other.
The investigation was conducted in partnership with a special prosecutor from the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.
