Man arrested on drug, weapons charges in Rome

ROME, NY — A 41-year-old man faces multiple drug and weapons charges following the execution of search warrants at two East Dominick Street addresses.

Gustavo A. De La Maza-Figueroa of Rome was taken into custody Tuesday following searches at 288 East Dominick Street Apt. 1 and 290 East Dominick Street.

The Rome Police Department Special Investigations Unit, assisted by the Rome Police Patrol Division, New York State Police Troop D VGNET Special Investigations Unit and K-9 Unit, executed the warrants at approximately 10:40 a.m.

Police seized a “ghost” gun with high-capacity magazines, ammunition, scales, packaging materials, approximately 10.25 grams of cocaine and $4,595 in U.S. currency.

De La Maza-Figueroa is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (intent to sell), criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and criminal possession of a firearm.

He was processed at Rome Police Headquarters and transported to the Oneida County Correctional Facility for Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
