NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI — Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks arrested a North Providence man on weapons and drug charges Tuesday morning.
Edward Leftwich, 49, of North Providence, was arrested at 10 a.m. by troopers assisted by members of the Violent Fugitive Task Force.
Leftwich was charged with possession of large capacity feeding devices, possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance over 10 grams but less than one ounce, and firing in a compact area.
He was also arrested on a Sixth District Court bench warrant for a bail violation on original charges of cyberstalking/harassment and disorderly conduct.
The arrest resulted from troopers executing an Extreme Risk Protection Order search warrant.
Leftwich was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks where he was processed and later transported to Sixth Division District Court for arraignment.
In a separate incident, troopers arrested Luis J. Padilla, 53, of Providence, at 12:01 a.m. on an affidavit and arrest warrant issued by the Providence Police Department for failure to register as a sex offender.
The arrest resulted from a motor vehicle stop on Broad Street in Providence.
Padilla was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks where he was processed and later turned over to the Providence Police Department.
