Woman cited for bringing weapons into courthouse in White River Junction

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT — A woman was cited after prohibited items were discovered in her backpack at courthouse security on June 4.

Cochena A. Davis, 54, who is currently unhoused, came to the Windsor Superior Court for an unrelated court hearing at 8:45 a.m.

Upon going through the security screening, prohibited items were observed in a backpack run through the X-ray scanner.

A manual search of the backpack contents revealed a canister of pepper spray, a 7-inch buck knife, several razor blades and a razor blade box cutter, according to Sgt. Francis Schippert of the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department.

Numerous items associated with intravenous drug use, e-cigarettes and torch lighters were also located in the backpack.

All items are prohibited from being knowingly brought into a courthouse.

Several items were confiscated and Davis was issued a citation to appear in court at a later date.

Davis was charged with bringing dangerous weapons into a courthouse.

She is scheduled to appear in Windsor Superior Court on July 28 at 8:30 a.m.
