YORK, NY — A York resident faces a felony charge after allegedly violating an order of protection.

Deputies responded to a residence in the Town of York at approximately 12:45 p.m. on June 7 for the report of a possible order of protection violation.

An investigation determined that Brian Jarvis, 50, of York, violated a complete stay away order of protection by being on a property occupied by the protected party of the court order, according to Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.

A criminal history check showed that Jarvis had been previously convicted of criminal contempt in the first degree in 2022, making this arrest a felony.

Deputy Danielle Fensken arrested Jarvis and charged him with felony criminal contempt in the first degree.

Jarvis was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.

He was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Caledonia Justice Mackay.

The judge remanded Jarvis to the custody of the sheriff due to him having two or more prior felony convictions.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Jarvis at the arraignment.

The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.
