Man arrested on weapons, assault charges in Throop

THROOP, NY — New York State Police arrested a man on multiple weapons and assault charges following a domestic violence investigation that led to the seizure of illegal firearms and components.

Christopher A. Pearson, 28, of Port Byron, was taken into custody June 6, 2026, after troopers responded to a domestic incident report at a residence in the town of Throop.

Troopers located the victim at a neighboring residence suffering from visible facial injuries.

The victim reported that an argument with Pearson escalated into a physical assault during which she was repeatedly struck and threatened with what she believed to be a firearm.

During a consensual search of the residence, troopers discovered multiple suspected ghost guns, firearm suppressors, ammunition feeding devices and unfinished firearm frames.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation adopted the case and continued the investigation.

Pearson was located later that day in Oswego County and taken into custody without incident.

Children present during the incident were located and found to be safe.

Pearson was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree (possession of a silencer), three counts of criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree (ammunition feeding device), aggravated family offense, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 4th degree (ghost gun), one count of criminal possession of a weapon 4th degree (unfinished frame), assault 3rd degree and menacing 2nd degree.

He was processed at State Police Auburn and transported to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment.
