HALFMOON, NY — A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her 10-year-old son in January.

Rebecca A. Jordan, 43, of Halfmoon, was arrested Wednesday and charged with manslaughter in the 2nd degree, tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a child.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to an unattended death call at 9:40 a.m. on Jan. 19 at 430 Route 146 in Halfmoon.

Jordan is accused of recklessly causing the death of the child by providing him with an excessive amount of diphenhydramine resulting in intoxication by that drug with aspiration of gastric contents and probable restriction of normal ventilation.

She was also charged with concealing physical evidence, specifically a bottle of diphenhydramine, from investigators with the intent to prevent it from being used in an official proceeding.

Jordan was arraigned before the Honorable Ellwood A. Sloat Jr. in Malta Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings in Halfmoon Town Court.

Manslaughter in the 2nd degree is a class C felony, tampering with physical evidence is a class E felony and endangering the welfare of a child is a class A misdemeanor.
