Employee injured in crash at Halfmoon oil change shop

HALFMOON, NY — A Valvoline employee suffered serious injuries Saturday when a customer’s vehicle pinned him between two cars at the business on U.S. Route 9.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 11:52 a.m. at 1682 U.S. Route 9.

Two vehicles were waiting in line to enter the business through the rear garage door when the second vehicle accelerated rapidly, according to investigators.

The driver, a 63-year-old man from Schagticoke, pinned a 50-year-old Valvoline employee between his vehicle and the car in front of it.

The first vehicle was forced forward and crashed through the rear glass garage door into a third vehicle that was parked in the bay being serviced.

The third vehicle was pushed through the front glass garage door.

The building suffered extensive damage and the business is closed until further notice.

Clifton Park-Halfmoon EMS transported the employee to Albany Medical Center for treatment of leg fractures and possible internal injuries.

He is listed in serious but stable condition.

The Sheriff’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the causes of the crash.
