Lyndonville police arrest 2 on outstanding warrants

LYNDONVILLE — A traffic stop at a closed business parking lot on Route 122 led to the arrest of two Wheelock residents on multiple outstanding warrants Monday evening.

Officer Gerrish was monitoring traffic on Urie Drive off Route 122 at 6:40 p.m. when he spotted a suspicious vehicle occupied by wanted individuals.

The officer followed the vehicle onto Red Brick Road and back onto Route 122, where he made contact with the occupants in the parking lot of a closed business at 648 Gilman Road.

Tharen Amidon, 32, of Kenniston Hill Road in Wheelock, was arrested on two warrants.

The first warrant charged him with aggravated assault with a weapon and reckless endangerment, with bail set at hold without bail.

The second warrant was issued by the Vermont Department of Corrections Parole Board for parole violation.

The original underlying charges for the parole violation included retail theft, identity theft, cocaine and heroin possession, eluding law enforcement, negligent operation, concealing stolen property, false information to law enforcement, vehicle operation on suspended license and violation of conditions of release.

Bail for the parole violation was also set at hold without bail.

Megan Metcalf, 32, also of Kenniston Hill Road in Wheelock, was arrested on a warrant charging her with felony identity theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, retail theft and unlawful trespass of a building.

Her bail was set at $500.

Both suspects were transported to the Lyndonville Police Department and then lodged at Northeast Regional Correctional Facility.

The vehicle was towed by Roland’s Wrecker.

Vermont State Police assisted at the scene.
