WOODSTOCK — Sheriff Ryan Palmer was made aware of a dangerous road rage incident that occurred Aug. 4 around 5 p.m. on Interstate 91 in the towns of Hartland and Windsor.

The complainant stated that a blue Mazda had come up behind them, beeped their horn, tailgated, and cut them off, almost causing an accident, forcing the driver into the breakdown lane.

A second complainant had a nearly identical experience that day, and it was also learned that a third complainant had a similar interaction a week prior.

Edwin Royce II, 35, of Reading, was identified as the operator of the Mazda after one of the complainants had taken a picture of the vehicle with the license plate visible.

Royce was located at his home in Reading and taken into custody Monday.

He was transported to the Windsor Police Department, where he was processed and cited for negligent operation, grossly negligent operation, recklessly endangering another person and aggravated disorderly conduct.

The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public to report any similar dealings that they’ve had with this vehicle on I-91 between Hartford and the Ascutney exits.

Royce was operating a blue Mazda CX3 Hatchback with Vermont license plate KMD 228.

Royce is scheduled to appear in Windsor County court Sept. 16 at 8:30 a.m.
