Arlington man arrested in Shaftsbury for violating release conditions

SHAFTSBURY — Vermont State Police arrested a 48-year-old Arlington man early Saturday morning for violating his court-ordered conditions of release.

Edison Apuhangotixi was taken into custody at 12:29 a.m. Aug. 2 after police responded to a report of a suspicious male at a residence on Route 7A.

Upon arrival, officers identified Apuhangotixi and spoke with him about the incident.

During the interaction, Apuhangotixi admitted to consuming alcohol, according to police.

Police determined that Apuhangotixi had active court-ordered conditions of release that prohibited him from consuming alcohol.

Apuhangotixi was arrested and transported to the Shaftsbury State Police Barracks where he was processed.

He was released with a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on Sept. 15 at 8:30 a.m.
