POUGHKEEPSIE — The New York State Police Wappinger Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested a 29-year-old Poughkeepsie man Monday on charges related to child sexual exploitation material.
Hamza Maanane was taken into custody following a joint investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Troop K Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The investigation began in March after police received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Investigators determined that Maanane was in possession of digital images consistent with child sexual exploitation material.
Maanane was charged with 16 counts of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child under the age of 16, all Class E felonies.
He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Poughkeepsie Court on July 29 at 9 a.m.
