Man arrested on DUI, eluding charges after vehicle goes airborne in Weathersfield

WEATHERSFIELD — A 22-year-old Windsor man was arrested on multiple charges after his vehicle went airborne and struck another vehicle before fleeing the scene July 5.

Owen Ritz-Williamson was charged with DUI, eluding a police officer, negligent operation and leaving the scene of an accident, according to the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Craig Watrous was on patrol at approximately 9:12 p.m. when he observed a vehicle go airborne across Route 5 on the lawn of a residence, striking another vehicle.

The vehicle then fled the scene with Deputy Watrous in pursuit.

The vehicle stopped near the intersection of Route 5 and Route 131, where the operator was identified as Ritz-Williamson.

Ritz-Williamson was cited to appear in Windsor court July 22 at 8:30 a.m. and released to a sober adult.

The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department thanked the Windsor Police Department for their assistance with the case.

Ritz-Williamson was later arrested by Windsor police on domestic violence charges.
