LYNDONVILLE — A Burke man was cited for making false statements on a firearms background check form and being prohibited from possessing firearms.
Timothy Murawski, 58, was cited July 3 and is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 4 at 8:30 a.m. in Caledonia Superior Court.
The Lyndonville Police Department was notified June 5 by the FBI’s National Criminal Background Check system that a purchaser prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms due to a prior military dishonorable discharge was the subject of a firearms transaction denial at a local licensed firearms dealer on Middle Street.
Further investigation revealed that Murawski was also prohibited from possessing firearms under Vermont law.
A patrol officer investigated and determined that the firearms dealer had already secured the firearm.
Review of the relevant ATF 4473 form determined false statements were made on it.
Murawski faces charges of firearms transfers background check false statement and persons prohibited from possessing firearms.
