HERKIMER — State Police responded to a residence on State Route 5 in the town of Herkimer, Herkimer County, at 3:28 a.m. June 29 for a report of a stabbing.
Troopers located a 45-year-old male inside the residence with two visible stab wounds to his body.
The victim told troopers he got into an altercation with his brother, who stabbed him with a kitchen knife and then fled the residence.
MOVAC Ambulance transported the man to Wynn Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening stab wounds.
The suspect, identified as Keith M. Lamont, 40, of Frankfort, was later located in Rome and taken into custody with assistance from the Rome Police Department.
Lamont was transported to State Police Herkimer where he was charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and criminal possession of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor.
Lamont was arraigned in Herkimer Town Court and remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.
