Man charged with DUI after rollover crash injures juveniles in Dorset

DORSET — A 27-year-old Schenectady, New York man was charged with driving under the influence of drugs after a rollover crash that injured two juvenile passengers Sunday evening.

Haman Brijraj was driving a 2023 Kia Sportage on Vermont Route 7A near U.S. Route 7 when the vehicle rolled over at 8:27 p.m., according to Vermont State Police.

Manchester Police Department and Northshire Rescue Squad responded to the scene, followed by Vermont State Police.

Brijraj was wearing a seat belt but sustained multiple injuries in the crash, police said.

The two juvenile occupants also were injured in the rollover.

All three were transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for treatment.

Police said Brijraj displayed signs of impairment at the scene.

The 2023 Kia Sportage was totaled in the crash.

Weather conditions were clear and roads were dry at the time of the incident.

Brijraj was cited for DUI drug and two counts of reckless endangerment.

He is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court in Bennington on Sept. 8 at 8:30 a.m.
