POMFRET — Vermont State Police arrested a 65-year-old woman Friday night after she allegedly crashed into a utility pole and left the scene while driving under the influence.
Troopers from the Royalton Barracks responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Pomfret Road at approximately 8:35 p.m. June 27.
Police said Janine W. Putnam of Pomfret was driving a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek when she went off the roadway and struck a utility pole before fleeing the scene.
Troopers located Putnam a short time later following an investigation.
Police determined Putnam had been operating the vehicle while impaired and arrested her on suspicion of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
The Subaru sustained front-end damage in the crash.
Weather conditions were clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.
Putnam was transported to the Royalton Barracks for processing and released with a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Superior Court.
