3 arrested in Derby after stolen vehicle tracked by OnStar

DERBY — Vermont State Police arrested three people Friday afternoon after OnStar tracked a stolen vehicle to a farm field area.

Troopers were notified around 4:30 p.m. June 27 that OnStar was tracking a 2022 white GMC Sierra reported stolen to Stowe Police the previous day.

The vehicle was located parked near the intersection of U.S. Route 5 and Route 105 in Derby.

OnStar deactivated the vehicle as troopers encountered the occupants.

The occupants briefly did not comply with orders, resulting in a visible police response to the area.

All parties were ultimately taken into custody without incident.

Shane Lontine, 43, of Coventry, was identified as the operator and arrested for operating a vehicle with a criminally suspended license, conditions of release violations and operating without owner’s consent.

Melissa Ofsuryk, 42, of Coventry, was arrested on an instate warrant for failing to appear on an initial charge of DUI-Drug.

Kyle Neill, 52, of Woodbury, was arrested on an instate warrant for careless/negligent vehicle operation and leaving the scene of a crash in Lamoille County.

Ofsuryk and Neill were transported to Northern State Correctional Facility and lodged for lack of $250 and $200 bail, respectively.

Lontine was processed at the Derby Barracks and released with a citation to appear in Orleans Unit of the Superior Court, Criminal Division on Sept. 2.

Orleans County Sheriff’s Department deputies and U.S. Border Patrol agents assisted troopers during the incident.
