PORTSMOUTH — A 64-year-old Rochester man was arrested after leading deputies on a high-speed chase that reached speeds exceeding 100 mph on June 24.
Robert Cervantes failed to stop when a Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to pull over his orange 2011 Nissan Sentra on Route 95 Northbound at approximately 1:17 p.m.
The vehicle exited at Exit 6 and traveled onto Route 1 Bypass North toward Kittery, Maine.
Cervantes accelerated significantly once on Bypass 1, weaving through traffic at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
The vehicle proceeded toward the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge, running through red lights and traveling in the opposite lane to navigate around heavy traffic.
The deputy lost sight of the vehicle as it crossed into Maine.
Cervantes was located and arrested a short time later in Dover.
He was charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, operating while certified as a habitual offender, criminal restraint, disobeying an officer and reckless operation.
Cervantes was transported to the Rockingham County Jail and released by a bail commissioner on $1,000 cash bail.
