HAVERSTRAW — The male subject previously reported missing at Haverstraw Beach State Park was located deceased in the water Wednesday evening.
Preliminary investigation by authorities indicates the cause of death to be an apparent accidental drowning.
The identity of the individual is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The New York State Police, New York State Parks Police, Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and multiple local fire departments remain on scene at the state park on Riverside Avenue following the report of a person last seen entering the water.
The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team and personnel from various fire departments participated in the search effort.
