COLCHESTER — Police are seeking the owner of a dog that allegedly bit a woman while she was running on Colchester Point Road.

The Colchester Police Department said Tuesday they spoke with a female victim who reported being bitten by a dog on June 19.

The victim told police a pit bull-type dog bit her during her run.

She described the dog as tan and white and weighing more than 50 pounds.

The victim said the dog’s owner was present during the incident and described him as a white male in his 40s or 50s with a lean build, brown beard and bald head who was riding a bicycle.

Police said the owner and dog quickly left after the incident and were last seen heading toward Pine Meadow Drive.

Colchester Police said they want to speak with the dog’s owner to determine the animal’s rabies vaccination status and gather other information.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Colchester Police Department at 802-264-5555.
