MOUNT HOLLY — Vermont State Police troopers were notified of a bus fire on Vermont Route 103 near Belmont Road at approximately 4:32 a.m. June 12.
The operator, Paul Burroughs, 58, of Wallingford, was driving a 2010 Gillig low floor bus when the rear brakes caught fire, according to police.
The brake fire spread to the engine, police said.
No passengers were on the bus and Burroughs was able to safely exit the vehicle.
The Mount Holly Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading further.
The bus was totaled in the incident.
No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.
