GEORGIA — Vermont State Police arrested a St Albans woman on multiple warrants June 6 after receiving a report of erratic driving on Interstate 89.

Mackenna Shea-Smith, 25, was taken into custody at approximately 6:28 p.m. during a traffic stop on Interstate 89 North at Exit 18.

Police received a report of a vehicle operating erratically while traveling north on Interstate 89 from the South Burlington area.

Troopers located the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop in Georgia.

Shea-Smith was identified as a passenger in the vehicle and was found to have multiple active warrants in Franklin County for retail theft, grand larceny and four counts of violation of probation.

While troopers were conducting the arrest, Shea-Smith lunged into the driver’s seat, started the vehicle and attempted to drive away while troopers were at the window, police said.

Shea-Smith was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody after a brief struggle.

She was transported to the Chittenden County Regional Correctional Facility on $10,200 bail for the outstanding warrants.

Shea-Smith was also cited on charges of resisting arrest, two counts of assault on a protected professional and two counts of aggravated assault.

She was scheduled to appear at Franklin County Superior Court on June 9 and was held on $400 bail for the new charges.
