DUMMERSTON — Two New Hampshire men were arrested early Sunday morning on fentanyl trafficking charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 91.
Joseph R. Kahlenbeck, 57, of Claremont, New Hampshire, and Ronald P. Laroche, 34, also of Claremont, New Hampshire, were charged with trafficking fentanyl and transporting fentanyl into the state.
A Windham County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducting a highway safety detail observed a vehicle operating erratically northbound on Interstate 91 at approximately 2:20 a.m.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 14 in Dummerston.
During the investigation, deputies developed probable cause of criminal activity.
Deputies found the two men were concealing more than 100 glassine bags of fentanyl between them.
Investigators determined the fentanyl was brought into Vermont via Interstate 91 from out of state.
Both men were processed at the Windham County Sheriff’s Office and released on criminal citations.
They are scheduled to appear in court July 29.
